My first telescope

When I was a teenager, I loved astronomy as a class in school. Growing up I never had had a telescope, but loved staring at the night sky, especially during clear nights, when there was no moon in the sky. About a year ago, when I could finally afford a telescope, I decided to buy one. Unfortunately it was the time of the lock down, so they were nowhere to be found; all telescopes merchants were out of stock throughout all of Europe. I had to wait for one to be available, or to pre-order the one I had decided I wanted, which I was not so fond of. So, wait I did.

Fast forward a few months, I stumbled upon an available one at the local dealer, and placed my order. Two days later it was at my door. I had heard the advice of Ed Ting’s (link) that all telescopes look bigger and bulkier when in person, so I was not surprised by the actual size of this thing when it arrived. The model I got is an 8″ (200mm) Sky-Watcher Classic 200P Dobsonian.

It’s needless to say I love it. It’s also needless to say that I set it up the very same day I received it, and used it to look at the sky the very same night also.
